Principal structural consultants engaged to develop numerous structural options for a visually simple outcome for a complicated structure. This knock-down and re-build project resulted in a sympathetic modern, architecturally designed home.

Size and description of project
Set on a generous block of approximately 1700m2. The large size of the house was challenging to work with due to its split four levels. The house was kept low and designed in sympathy with neighbouring, established areas. 

Unique features/specific challenges
Due to the nature of expansive open areas where clear floor span of 10m had to be achieved ongoing structural advice had to be sought which accommodated the demands of a client passionate about detail.

The pre-stressed precast flooring systems and upper-level insitu concrete slabs accommodated the architectural theme with cantilevered projections supporting masonry feature walls. These in turn had to be stiffened with hidden steel struts to control a rigid deflection criteria.
